Pakistan, Malaysia Agree to Balance Trade Ties

ISLAMABAD Pakistan and Malaysia concluded the second session of their Joint Ministerial Commission in Islamabad on Friday.
Addressing a joint press conference after the meeting, Pakistan Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar and his Malaysian counterpart, Datuk Seri Syed Hamid Albar, said both sides agreed to find ways to balance their trade relations.
"It was agreed to look into ways to narrow the deficit through cooperative endeavors," Abdul Sattar said.
"It was our shared determination to intensify our traditional close ties and to translate mutual goodwill into concrete cooperation in diverse fields," he added.
The Malaysian foreign minister described the meeting as successful and said it will help the two countries to explore new areas of cooperation to enhance existing trade ties.
"We covered multidimensional areas including trade, investment, manpower, science and technology and culture," Datuk Hamid Albar said.
The next meeting of the commission will be held in Kuala Lumpur next year.
